DESCRIPTION; CHARSET=UTF-8 :Professor Buckley will speak about the Mandaeans, one of the world’s most endangered religious minorities.  They are the last Gnostics still living in the Middle East from ancient times, but in the current situation, they are leaving their homeland for the diaspora.  Professor Buckley is a leading scholar in the history and religion of the Mandaeans; she has also spent many years doing advocacy work for the Mandaeans.
